New Moon in Capricorn and Dhanistha Nakshatra on February 9th at 16:00 MT

The challenging conjunction of Mercury, Mars and Sun in Sagittarius has now shifted into Capricorn. Mental confusion continues, however, action strengthens this month as Mars goes exalted in Capricorn. The action steps you’ve been putting off will demand your attention now. Complacency, ambivalence, and resistance won’t be tolerated in the weeks ahead. Be proactive instead of being forced to make the changes you’ve been avoiding. Mars demands your one-pointed focus as the karma yogi.

February is ripe with several powerful Vedic birthday celebrations. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the 2nd of February. This is the celebrated birth date of Lord Krishna. He is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and a powerful expression of love, harmony, and devotion (Bhakti). Ganesha Jayanti occurs on the 12th. This is one of the celebrated birth date of Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles. The beloved elephant god is the son of Lord Shiva and an important ally for removing the challenges and hardships we face on the dharmic path. Vasant Panchami falls on February 13th which is dedicated to goddess Saraswati and her knowledge, wisdom, music and creativity. Goddess Lalita is believed to be the representation of the Panchabhuthas – earth, water, air, fire, and space. Her birthday celebration occurs this month on the 23rd. She is a form of Parvati and wife of Lord Shiva. She brings blessings of Shakti, life force, with her.

The new Moon in Capricorn and Dhanishta nakshatra occurs on the 9th at 16:00 MT. Moon conjuncts Mercury, Mars, and Sun in Capricorn at the time of the new Moon. Ketu gives his gaze, cutting away excess and illusion.

Ruling planet of Capricorn is Saturn, still transiting his own sign of Aquarius and the constellation of Satabisha. This is a time of immense healing and grief work. Releasing the old and outworn, making space for the new, and creating an entirely different foundation for your self. What are you releasing and grieving?

Dhanishta nakshatra is ruled by the Vasu Devas who bring the light, or jyoti. They support being seen, noticed, and love being visible. The Vasu Devas are torch carriers- lighting the path, awakening others by whatever means necessary.

This new Moon in Capricorn is inviting us to restructure our priorities and focus on what really matters. What lights you up? What are you passionate about? Are you willing to take a risk- to be seen more fully?

In the cycle ahead, you are being invited to shine brighter, increase your inner light, move towards your true passion, and ask for more.

Dhanishta brings success to those who are brave enough to stand out and get noticed. Where are you playing small and refusing your bright light? What steps can you take to become more visible and shine even brighter?! The world needs bright shining lights like you. Awaken the Jyoti within and ask for more in the cycle ahead.

Full Moon in Leo and Magha Nakshatra on February 24th at 05:29 AM MT

Sun, Saturn and Mercury conjoin in Aquarius as the month closes. Your inner light and mental body feel the pressure. This is a reminder to slow down and listen carefully- especially as all three planets transit Satabisha nakshatra. Healing the mind and body is your top priority, but this may come through rest and grieving.

Simultaneously, exalted Mars and Venus dance in tight conjunction through Capricorn. Fortunately these two can be harmonious together, but often bring passion, romance, and creative power. You will need to direct this increased life force energy consciously. Channel your creative power and use it wisely. Mars is only exalted in Capricorn roughly every two years. Watch for excess heat and inflammation in the body as well as anger. Relationship challenges and discord are likely for many. Remember, diplomacy wins!

On the 24th of February at 05:29 am MT, a full Moon in Leo and Magha nakshatra arrives, offering big waves and ancestral support. Wisdom and spiritual insights for your path are present. Use this time to create a connection with Spirit and the ancestors. Avoid ego and aggression. This is an important time to strengthen your relationship with your ancestors and realign with your dharmic path. Remember that the ancestors want your dharmic success. They are here to support you in achieving the healing and transformation possible for you and your lineage. Clarify your purpose and recommit to your dharmic path. Ask your ancestors to help you with this.

Magha nakshatra is ruled by Pitr, which means ancestors (particularly the father’s lineage) and falls within the first portion of the sign Leo. It is considered a gandanta, of which there are three of in the zodiac. Each gandanta creates uprooting on the psycho-emotional body level. These junction points bring deep change and transformation with them. Magha gives results with our relationship to power, purpose and the ego identity. This constellation correlates to inner and outer authority, as well as both individual and ancestral karma. Those born with this constellation in their natal charts usually have a great deal of ancestral karma to unpack in this lifetime- particularly with the father. Magha reminds us to align with dharma, purpose, power, and clear our ancestral karma.

This full Moon signifies an immense change with your inner power. There is a break in past karma taking place. Are you paying attention to the release of your shadow, or are you consumed with the challenges and overwhelm?  Use this time to consciously clear and release negativity, burdens, toxicity and anything that is disempowering you. Focus on the direction you want to go and clarify the results you want to achieve. Make goals and be vigilant with your actions and choices. Do they support your focus and direction, or distract you and derail you?

Remember that you have enormous power and potential. You have a purpose and many gifts that are needed in this world. Your wisdom, insights and light are a vital resource for reminding others to shine brightly. Stay close to your light and commit to shining even brighter. Temper the ego, but stay close to your truth and wholeness- shadow and light. Look for sudden flashes of insight and awareness around the time of the full Moon. Clarify your vision and release the shadows obstructing your view.
